Upgrading T-Mobile SGH-T989 to CyanogenMod 10
I am using an unlocked T-Mobile Samsung galaxy S II with an original firmware.
Prerequisites
- T-Mobile GSH-T989 Drivers
- ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 5.8.1.3
- Odin3
- ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2
- CyanogenMod 10
- Google Apps
- A micro SD card (to be used in your phone)
These are the steps I used to upgrade my phone.
- Install the T-Mobile Drivers
- Make sure your back up your phone if there is anything important
- Turn off the phone
- While holding the middle of the volume buttons (it presses them both) press the power button
- Press up after the phone asks to stat download mode
- Plug the phone into the computer
- copy files 4,5,6 onto the SD card in your phone
- Open Odin3
- select PDA and browse for this file ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 5.8.1.3
- click start
- when the upload is finished restart the phone
- While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
- when the phone boots into ClockworkMod Touch Recovery touch selection “install zip from SD card
- Choose zip from SD card and choose ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2
- Confirm the selection
- When complete go back and reboot system now
- While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
- When the phone boots into ClockworkMod use the arrows to selection “install zip from SD card
- Choose zip from SD card CyanogenMod 10
- Confirm the selection
- When complete go back and reboot system now
- While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
- This time select “wipe data/factory reset”
- Then select “wipe cache partition”
- Select “reboot system now”
- let the Phone boot into the new system
- once you have confirmed this works turn off the phone
- While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
- Choose install zip from SD card and select the gapps file.
- confirm and restart the phone.
- if you like you can now restore your data if you had backed it up.
That is it, now you have a fully updates phone. enjoy
