How to restore a dead iomega / lenovo storcenter version ix2-ng this is the version that comes with its own drives and only 1mb of online storage

Since this device comes with its own drives the company decided to install the system on those hard drives instead of on board and when ever those drives die the system is gone.

Follow theses step to recover the system to other drives or to the same ones if the system has completely crashed.

steps for recovery:

  1. format usb to fat
  2. Run h4c-4.1.102.29716.exe  (make sure you overwrite the right drive)
  3. unzip ix2-ng-4.0.2.9960-recovery.zip and add to emctools folder in the newly created usb.
  4. disconnect the lan and power cables
  5. plug in the usb
  6. while holding the RESET button plug in the power adapter and hold it for about a minute.
  7. when the led on the usb  starts flashing, showing that the system is reading the USB-disk, release the reset button
  8. the read / write should take about 5 min and the device should automatically shut off
  9. plug in the lan port and turn on the machine
  10. the white light should run for a minute and then the blue and white lights should blink
  11. finally the white light should be steady
  12. use a browser to visit its ip (use ipscan24 to find its address easily)
  13. Log in to the network storage device and navigate to the management console.
  14. Click on the System icon, then click on Software Updates.
  15. In the Add Software popup box, click Browse… and select the ix2-ng-4.1.114.33421.tgz file.
  16. Click on Upload and allow the file to upload to your device.(it will take around two minutes)
  17. When the update is uploaded to the network storage device, the Status column will say Ready to apply.
  18. Click Apply all pending updates to apply the update or updates process takes about 3 minutes
  19. Open the Software Updates feature and click Check for Updates to update your existing applications. to see if there are any new updates

Hard Reset LG P970 Optimus Black with Computer

Prerequisites:

1. LG Drivers
2. SmartFlash Tool
I have recently had an LG p970h phone which I wanted to do a full reset since I did not have the unlock code.
Since pressing the down button along with the power button did not bring up the recovery options I had no way to do a hard reset with the buttons themselves and therefor had to use a computer.
These are the steps that helped for me:

1. Install the LG drivers
2. Extract the smart flash tool to a folder on the desktop
3. Shut off the phone
4. While holding the up volume plug the phone into the computer
5. Wait for the drivers to install
6. Run B_SmartFlashTool_Extern from the smartflash tool folder on the desktop folder
7. On the first tab called Normal D/L select erase user data and click start
8. Wait for the phone to restart and you are done

Jailbreak iPhone 5 or 4s with ios 6.1

I am using an updated iPhone 4s 6.1 and this is how I jailbroke it using Evasi0n on Windows 8.

Prerequisites

  1. iTunes
  2.  Evasi0n

This is fairly simple

  1. Install iTunes
  2. Make sure your iPhone is updated to 6.1
  3. Backup your iPhone if needed
  4. Run Evasi0n
  5. Wait until you iPhone is recognized
  6. Select Jailbreak
  7. Wait a couple of minutes for the program to do its work (The iPhone will restart, be patient)
  8. it will ask you to unlock your device and click the new jailbreak icon (look for it)
  9. it will finish up and do a couple of restarts

That is it, your iPhone reboots with cydia installed

Upgrading Samsung Galaxy 2 II SGH-T989 to CyanogenMod 10

Upgrading T-Mobile SGH-T989 to CyanogenMod 10

I am using an unlocked T-Mobile Samsung galaxy S II with an original firmware.

Prerequisites

  1.  T-Mobile GSH-T989 Drivers
  2. ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 5.8.1.3
  3. Odin3
  4. ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2
  5. CyanogenMod 10
  6. Google Apps
  7. A micro SD card (to be used in your phone)

These are the steps I used to upgrade my phone.

  1. Install the T-Mobile Drivers
  2. Make sure your back up your phone if there is anything important
  3. Turn off the phone
  4. While holding the middle of the volume buttons (it presses them both) press the power button
  5. Press up after the phone asks to stat download mode
  6. Plug the phone into the computer
  7. copy files 4,5,6 onto the SD card in your phone
  8. Open Odin3
  9. select PDA and browse for this file ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 5.8.1.3
  10. click start
  11. when the upload is finished restart the phone
  12. While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
  13. when the phone boots into ClockworkMod Touch Recovery touch selection “install zip from SD card
  14. Choose zip from SD card and choose ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2
  15. Confirm the selection
  16. When complete go back and reboot system now
  17. While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
  18. When the phone boots into ClockworkMod use the arrows to  selection “install zip from SD card
  19. Choose zip from SD card CyanogenMod 10
  20. Confirm the selection
  21. When complete go back and reboot system now
  22. While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
  23. This time select “wipe data/factory reset”
  24. Then select “wipe cache partition”
  25. Select “reboot system now”
  26. let the Phone boot into the new system
  27. once you have confirmed this works turn off the phone
  28. While holding the middle of the volume buttons press the power button
  29. Choose install zip from SD card and select the gapps file.
  30. confirm and restart the phone.
  31. if you like you can now restore your data if you had backed it up.

That is it, now you have a fully updates phone. enjoy

Jailbreak iPhone 4s 5.1.1

I am using a recently updated iPhone 4s 5.1.1 and this is how I jailbroke it using Absinthe on Windows 7.

Prerequisites

  1.  iTunes
  2.  Absinthe 2.0.4

This is fairly simple

  1. Install iTunes
  2. Make sure your iPhone is updated to 5.1.1
  3. Run Absinthe (it will extract itself into a new folder in the same directory)
  4. Run the new Absinthe
  5. Select Jailbreak
  6. Wait a couple of minutes for the program to finish its work (The iPhone will restart, be patient)

That is it, your iPhone reboots with cydia installed

Upgrade VX610W ONDA Tablet to Android 4 ICS

Prerequisites:

  1. LiveSuite version1.0.7 with android 4.0.3 firmware
  2. Charge the tablet to at least 50%

These are the steps I took:

  1. Extract the liveSuite and firmware into a folder on the desktop
  2. Double click the LiveSuitePack
  3. Click yes to install driver anyways
  4. In the folder run LiveSuite
  5. Click no
  6. Click orange box on top left
  7. Select the android image from the folder on the desktop
  8. Unplug and shut down tablet
  9. Hold the menu button (the middle key) and plug in the usb cable at the same time
  10. Click yes to the popup on the computer
  11. let go of the menu button and wait two minutes for the tablet to reboot

To change the language to English

  1. on the home screen of the device click the 6 squares icon on the top right
  2. Click the settings icon (it looks like sliders with circles)
  3. Scroll until you see an icon with the letter A
  4. Select the top choice
  5. Change to English

Customize HP Touchpad with Preware

This is the easiest way to add functional uses to you HP Touchpad

Prerequisites

  1. WebOSQuickInstall
  2. Java 1.6
  3. An internet connection

This is very easy

  1. Turn on your Touchpad
  2. Enter the following in the “just type” search bar upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart
  3. Tap the “Developer Mode” icon that appears.
  4.  Turn on the “on/off” slider in the top right corner
  5. Leave the “developer mode password” field blank. Tap “Submit”.
  6. Install Java
  7. Run the WebOSQuickInstall
  8. Install the Novocom Driver (This installs automatically over the internet)
  9. Plug in the Touchpad to the Computer
  10. Click the globe icon on the right side (the one with the blue and red arrows)
  11. When the sync is done, search for Preware
  12. click install

Thats it, Preware is installed on the Touchpad

I am using a recently updated iPhone 4s 5.0.1 and this is how I jailbroke it using Absinthe on Windows 7.

  2.  Absinthe
  3. Internet connection

This is fairly simple

  1. Install iTunes
  2. Make sure your iPhone is updated to 5.0.1
  3. Run Absinthe as administrator
  4. Select Jailbreak
  5. Wait a couple of minutes for the program to finish its work (The iPhone will restart, be patient)
  6. Tap on the Absinthe icon that has appeared on the home screen of your iPhone device

That is it, your iPhone reboots with cydia installed

Jailbreak iPhone 5.0.1

I am using a recently updated iPhone 3GS 5.0.1 and this is how I jailbroke it using redsnow on Windows 7.

Prerequisites

  1. iTunes
  2. Redsnow
  3. Internet connection

This is fairly simple

  1. Install iTunes
  2. Make sure your iPhone is updated to 5.0.1
  3. Run redsnow as administrator
  4. Select Jailbreak
  5. Follow the instructions to put your phone in DFU mode (on windows I had to do this twice because windows 7 first looks for updated drivers on the internet)
  6. Select install Cydia, press next
  7. wait until redsnow shows done

Thats it, your iPhone reboots with cydia installed (This will take a couple of minutes)
